FishGauge has two parts. The app on your phone is where every catch is measured and recorded, and where you can see how you're stacking up in your comps. This website shows the same logbook and boards on a bigger screen. It's also where organisers set up and run their competitions, and where judges check catches.

Any fishing comp approved mat works. Use the mat you already have.
FishGauge reads the length off the mat in the photo and gives you an estimated weight. Check the species and length, then save.
The photo is the record, so the fish doesn't have to come home. The catch is in your logbook, with the date and any extra details you add.
Worked out from the species and the measured length, using published length-to-weight curves for most species: Fisheries New Zealand's, and the Export competition's calculator for kingfish. It's always labelled as estimated and is never used for scoring. Length is what counts.
Any fishing comp approved measuring mat works. For a good reading, the whole fish and the mat's printed numbers need to be in the photo, with the fish laid straight along the mat.
Once you've entered, every fish you capture goes into your logbook and onto the boards of the competitions it qualifies for. Nothing extra to submit.
A club or event sets the species, dates and rules, and can have approved judges check the catches.
Start a comp for your crew and see who's ahead on a shared board.
Each angler's longest fish of each species counts. Every other fish stays in the logbook.
You sign in to see a board, and you only see the boards of competitions you're in.
In a judged competition, a catch that needs a second look goes to the competition's approved judges, who check the length against the mat in the photo.
Catches only come in from the app. The website never captures.
Set it up on the website in five steps. Anglers enter and fish with the app; the board, judging queue and results follow from there.
Small comps, kids' events and charity events are free. Fees for other comps cover admin and running costs.
